There’s far more to living in Jefferson County than the low cost of living, vibrant community arts and history, and exciting outdoor recreation. Jefferson County also offers community amenities that make living here just a little bit sweeter.
First, there’s the Jefferson County Community Center, located in the center of Sam Michaels Park, which offers county residents a full gymnasium, fitness room, preschool room, and multi-purpose space for community events.
Jefferson County also provides access to four large public libraries: Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library, Shepherdstown Public Library, Charles Town Library, and South Jefferson Public Library. Each library operates an events calendar of family-friendly community activities that will help new residents join in on the fun in a safe and convenient setting for family members of all ages.
Finally, employees and family members can also enjoy the delicious results of farming in and around Jefferson County with local farmer’s markets located within the county. The Charles Town Farmers Market operates Mid-April to Late-October each Saturday from 8 am-noon. Several locations of the Shepherdstown Farmers Market are open seasonally on different days of the week and at different times, and other markets such as the Morgan’s Grove Market are open year-round. You can find out more about the specific dates and contact information for local farmer’s markets here.
