Business Retention and Expansion Program
As a part of Jefferson County’s commitment to serving existing businesses, The Jefferson County Development Authority (JCDA) has partnered with the West Virginia Development Office (WVDO) to enhance our business retention program. In 2014, the JCDA visited 77 existing companies to get a close look at current conditions, future plans, and ways the JCDA can provide deeper service. The results revealed a number of opportunities for the JCDA to help local businesses grow and expand in Jefferson County.
As a boost to the expansion side of this initiative, four new buildings were constructed in the Burr Business Park, totaling 64,000 sqft, including 58,000 sqft of Class A Office space and 8,000 sqft of warehouse and manufacturing space. In addition to this new construction, the JCDA also facilitated the sale and re-development of two buildings totaling 110,000 sqft and hired a new business coach to work directly with small businesses and entrepreneurs.
