A few short years after the end of the Civil War, a group comprised of 38 far-sighted Jefferson County farmers, orchardists, and business leaders saw the need for a bank to serve as a principal stabilizing influence on Jefferson County. They pooled some of their financial resources and started Bank of Charles Town. A charter was issued on February 20, 1871 and the bank opened for business on April 4, 1871. From its humble beginnings shortly after the civil war, the bank has grown to nearly $300 million in assets and employs over 100 people in the tri-state area. BCT has a long tradition of providing personalized and responsive service to its customers and the communities it serves. They currently have six locations: three in Jefferson County, two in Berkeley County, and one in Frederick County VA. http://www.bankatbct.com/

A unique enterprise, SPARC has two dynamic divisions and is building a third. BSR, the training component, is the acknowledged leader of antiterrorism and homeland security advanced driver training. It is recognized globally and has much of the federal governmentÕs business, with clients ranging from the White House and State Department to the military to state and regional law enforcement organizations. BSR also conducts its highly acclaimed Accident Avoidance (AA) course for civilians, mostly youth. A long-term AA study shows the powerful benefits of the hands-on training. The second is the Summit Point Motorsports Park, an exceptional venue for car, motorcycle and kart racing and driver education events. With three separate road-racing circuits ranging from one to 2.2 miles, several exciting events can take place at the same time. Our Friday At The Track (FATT) program is very popular because it allows people to drive their own street-legal vehicles on our race circuits. Third, SPARC is in the early stages of creating the Summit Point Training Campus, a 270-acre site that will support independent businesses performing security-oriented education, instruction, and training. These businesses will be able to take advantage of the proximity to BSR. www.summitpoint-raceway.com
