If you are looking for highly trained employees, Jefferson County has the capability to produce them through several institutions of higher education.Shepherd University is a state supported four year institution with of approximately 5,000 students. The University offers associate and bachelor degrees in over 75 fields, and has implemented a masters program. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College offers associate degree programs, certificate programs and certification in a number of areas such as technology, organizational development, employee development, communications, performance improvement and leadership. The college can also create customized training sessions based on the needs of area businesses.  James Rumsey Technical Institute is a vocational and technical school that offers courses for Eastern Panhandle high school students and post-secondary students.  Also serving the area are Mountain State University, a private educational institution that tailors their programs to working adults, and American Public University System  that has become a leader in distance education. As you enter the labor force in Jefferson County or become an employee in Burr Business Park, the Children First Child Development Center is conveniently located in the Park off of WV Route 9 to serve your daycare needs.
